Christmas in Retail

So most of you know that I work retail and during the holidays that means longer hours, less days off, lots of work to do on your feet, you get the idea.
Here are some of the things getting me through the season (semi sane)

Gossip Girls-It is my new obsession. When I do have time off I am engrossed in the world of the upper eastsiders and all their drama. I watched season 1 DVDs last week and am now on to season 2!!!

Diet Coke- I have a bad addiction and most times during the year limit myself to 2 a day, but lately that number has been on the rise.

Chick fila mini biscuits

Bio freeze- It's like icy hot and I have been putting it on my tired feet.

My Husband- he has been helping out around the house and trying to make more of the dinners to help out at night

Secret Santa- We draw names for Secret Santa at work and I spend way to much time trying to figure out who has who

Tis the Season II

Here is my silver tree!! David and I have a tradition to give each other an ornament and thats the only present we open Christmas Eve. This tree has all our ornaments to each other on it, as well as some other silver themed ornaments. One day I want to have themed trees in several rooms in my house, so this was my start!

I have spent probably 2 hours or more in Hobby Lobby and Michael's the last few days.(All thier Christmas is already 50% off!) While on my shopping excursion I also picked up a new tree shirt for the Living Roon tree-also picture above.

Tis The Season!!

Today we put up our Christmas Decorations! I have been waiting all week for a time to do it. We made sausage balls and and a egg nog drink and pulled out all our decorations. I also put up a 3 ft tree in our bedroom this year that is silver themed, but its needs some kind of tree top before I post pictures!

Hope you are also enjoying the Christmas Season!

For your viewing and listening pleasure!

About a month ago we had a Karoke party at our house. Here is a short video of me singing Britney Spear's "Ooops I did it again." I put it up for those who need a laugh!!

A weekend of Firsts and Lasts

Well this past weekend was, yes, a weekend for firsts and lasts.
Let's Start with the lasts....
It was my LAST weekend off until January. :(
I work retail and of course this is our busy season.
It was also the LAST time I am going to put spices into a recipe without looking very carefully at the bottle. I was making white bean chili and thought I was grabbing the cumin but instead accidentally dumped a bunch of cinnamon into my soup-not the same effect. It smelled like I was making apple cider!

OK so it was also a weekend of firsts....
I went to Holiday House on Saturday (a big Shopping event in town put on by the Junior League and vendors come from all over to set up booths). I had been to Holiday House before, but going on a Saturday took it to a new level, it was shopping madness! It was packed with women and really hard to maneuver in and out of the booths, but well worth it for the fun things I got!
Next year I am going to avoid the Saturday crowds though.

Also on Sunday I rode in a convertible for the very first time!! I was at David's co workers house and noticed it in the driveway with the top down and asked if they would take me for a spin. Note- I did not drive their car!

Pumpkin Patch!

Today we went with our Home Group from Church to Motley's Pumpkin Patch. It was really fun! They had pig races, hayrides, animals, and lots of pumpkins. The weather was a perfect Fall day too! We were so glad that the whole weekend was rain free because I was starting to feel like I was never going to see a clear sky again.

A day with Rascal

Someone(Rascal) has NOT been acting very good today and I happen to be off and have had to deal with it first hand!

I would say it all started at 2 in the morning-that's right he woke us up in the middle of the night acting like he had to go outside to the bathroom so bad. As soon as the door opened he took off and David couldn't hold on to his leash. He saw a possum and was in the bushes growling at it and wouldn't listen to us. Not good. David finally was able to grab him and drag him back into the house.

Then at around 7 he wanted to go out again (because he had been too distracted by possum to use bathroom earlier. But of course it was raining and once he got outside he just stood there in the rain looking around.

To top the day off I was doing some major vacuuming and cleaning (not watching rascal too close) I guess he was mad I wasn't paying attention really close to him and wasn't taking him out the second he wanted to because then he went and peed in the house!! AHHHHH BAD DOG!!!

I love Fall !!!!

Top Ten Things I love about Fall!

1. Tights and Boots!
Yes I have already broke them out this week, it may have been a little early but one day I saw a high of like 65 and I couldn't resist!!!!!

2. Soup
Already made veggie soup this week, I love it!!

3. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins
I also tried to make these this week, but all the canned pumpkin in the whole grocery store has been just purchases by a woman for her DOG. So those will have to wait a week.

4. Cool Air and Less Bugs
I live where there are lots of mosquitoes.

5. Turtlenecks
I can hide my pale skin!

6. Sweaters

7. Cozy Socks around the house

8. We don't have to run the Air conditioning all day.

9. Fall Decorations
I love the browns and berry colors, mums, changing leaves and pumpkins.

10. Getting to pick out what Rascal will be for Halloween.
If we can find a costume to fit him!

Floods, Friends and Festivities

After our trip to Pensacola, FL we headed up to Atlanta to join all of Rebecca's wedding festivities. I was so excited to be in her wedding but also to see lots of Auburn friends!!
So a few days before we were leaving to go to Atlanta we heard that there was lots of flooding in Georgia. Rebecca sent out an email that her rehearsal dinner location was in fact flooded and just a few days before were having to pick a new restraunt for the dinner! Here is the picture attached to the email.....

I think it turned out better than imagined. They were able to get the second choice location that they had looked at months before and the festivities were able to get started! Here is the happy couple at the church rehearsal before the big day!!

I loved getting to see my Auburn friends!

The wedding day!!!!

Yes, it was rainy the day of the wedding too. Luckily we were able to get a few pictures outside before it really started to pour.

It was a gorgous reception and everything turned out sooooo beautiful!

A Week Away, Part 2

Pensacola!!!
This is our view from our hotel room.
We were so lucky to have wonderful weather the whole time!
One of the popular dishes is Pensacola are Oysters. I can't eat the raw ones, but found some good baked ones with Parmesan cheese and spinach. The hotel next to ours had a afternoon where they gave away free oysters and of course David had to go take advantage.

This is right before I went to the ocean and was inches from a huge jelly fish....Luckily David saw it before I got stung.

This is at Hemingway's, we ate there twice it was a great restaurant with a wonderful menu. You can't get good seafood like at the beach anywhere in Arkansas.

Peg Leg Pete's, one of the most popular local places!

Next to Come.....Our Atlanta Leg of the Trip and Rebecca's Wedding!

A Week Away, Part 1

Our Hotel!!!

So this last week we packed up the car and took a vacation! We started out early last Sunday morning and drove to Pensacola, FL. We stayed at the Hilton there and had a blast. We loved the hotel, the beach and the atmosphere in Pensacola. After florida we drove to Atlanta to go to Rebecca, one of my best friend from Auburn's wedding. The we drove back today. What a world wind! We dragged ourselves into the house and are glad to be home but a little sad to be back in the real world with work, bills, laundry, ect.
I have lots more pictures and stories to share so that why this is just Part One of our week away blog.

A new day has come...

OK, not even a new day has come. I feel like I am in a new Millennium now!

Yesterday I got a Iphone! Here is a picture of my phone before so you can see what a change it is! The I phone can literally do everything, its sooo cool. I have been downloading apps that can give you directions, tell you a nearby place to eat, movie times, how many calories are in restaurant food, weather channel. This is I have been pulled into the i phone mania!

Last Wednesday

So last Wednesday to everyone probably seemed like a pretty normal day. It started out that way for me too, but the events that took place that day seem to still be affecting me.
Ok for starters I decided to do the Atkins diet and started it last Wednesday. I decided to try it out for a month a see how it goes. This means no breads, no dessert, nothing with carbs. The first few days were good and besides one cupcake (oops) I have done really good.
So the other thing that has affected my days and mood since Last WEDNESDAY is that I took my car in for a check up and because it was making a funny noise. Well....10 days later I STILL don't have my car! The power steering hose has to be replaced and for some reason its a part that no where seems to has or can get quickly. AHHH. So David is having to pick me up and drop me off at work, I am having to go in a hour early everyday and he is getting home later than usual. Its been a long "ride". Hopefully these events will change this next week or else I am going to be renting a car!
For the good or the bad last wednsday has definatly affected my everyday normal activities!!!!!

The Wedding

Well exactly one week ago my sister Missy got married! It was such a fun weekend and we were so lucky so have family from all over the country come in for it. It was a great time to reunite with all my aunts, uncles and cousins. Everything went perfect and was beautiful!!

My favorite part of any wedding is the rehearsal dinner and last weekend was no fail. Missy and Ryan have gone to school together since they were in kindergarden so it was amazing to see and hear all the history and stories that lead them both to where they are!
Congratulations Missy and Ryan!!!

He's a model!

Oh I know this is a record-two posts in one day! Thats whats happens on a rainy day off.
Recently David's coworker Marla came out with a professional photographer to have pictures taken of her dogs in our yard. The photographer shot these of rascal too!!

A new hobby

(from bicycling.com)
David and I decided this week to start a new hobby. We are going to start bicycling! We have picked out the bikes and will be going back to buy them (we didn't have room in the car when we first looked). We also have biking outfits picked out-don't worry no spandex shorts yet :)
There are lots of places in Scott to bike and it is very flat so we are going to try it out, should be interesting because neither of us have biked much since we were kids.
But whats the saying "Its just like getting back on a bike"....................

Balancing Act

This is my friend Lauren and I after listening to the speaker Thursday night.

Thursday night I went to a speaker named Staci Wallace. I was called "Balancing Act" and was hoted by Marketplace Connection, which also happens to be a ministry my mom has help to start for professional women. It was great! She was a powerful speaker that spoke alot of great truths.

One good quote from the night-
"Your perspective has the ability to darken your moment or brighten your future."

Here is a link to the speaker Staci Wallace.....

Busy Weekend

This weekend my sister graduated from the University of Arkansas. We drove to Fayetville to goin the festivities on Saturday. It was great to spend the day with family and get to see my grandparents who came all the way from Oregon!

The craziest part of the whole day was all the memories it brought back of my own graduation from Auburn University. All the excitement for the future and sad goodbyes to dear friends. It was exactly four years ago this month that I graduated and the time has flown by, but so much has changed in those four years too. Being on a college campus made me miss a lot of things about college, but not exams!!

This is a picture from my senior year and all of us now have careers, two of us are married, and one is engaged!

Here is some pictures from this past weekend..... Congratulations again on graduating and all the things ahead of you!!!
